Burna Boy's music secures its place on Obama's playlist for the third time, while Ayra Starr earns a spot on the list twice.

Former US President Barack Obama continued his tradition of sharing his summer playlist for 2023, featuring 41 songs that have caught his ear. Notably, two Nigerian artists secured their spots on the list for the third consecutive year. Grammy Award-winner and self-proclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy, made it with his track 'Sittin' on top of the World,' a collaboration with British singer 21 Savage. Mavin Records-signee Ayra Starr also graced the playlist for the second time with her song 'Sability.'

Taking to Twitter on July 20, 2023, Obama unveiled his diverse selection of old and new tunes, expressing excitement about discovering more music. Ayra Starr, appreciative of the recognition, playfully remarked that others would soon join the lineup.

Notably, in 2022, Burna Boy's 'Last Last,' Rema's 'Calm Down,' Ayra Starr's 'Rush,' and 'Finesse' by Pheelz featuring BNXN made the former President's summer playlist. In previous years, artists like Wizkid, Tems, Khalid, Disclosure, Davido, H.E.R, and Rema were also celebrated on Obama's curated playlists.

This annual tradition highlights Obama's appreciation for music's diverse and global reach, connecting artists from different cultures to an audience worldwide.
