Emefiele Urged to Rein in DSS Following Alleged Court Order Violation, Nnamdi Kanu's Lawyer Appeals to Tinubu.

In a scene of tense legal and political confrontation, Aloy Ejimakor, the esteemed Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the influential leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), sent forth a solemn message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the alarming activities of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ejimakor, with an air of urgency and deep concern, urged President Tinubu to intervene and put an end to the alarming trend of the secret service flagrantly disobeying court orders. This serial disobedience, he asserted, was not only troubling but utterly condemnable, as it threatened the very foundation of justice and the rule of law.

Taking to the virtual world of Twitter, Ejimakor harkened back to the painful memory of DSS's failure to comply with court orders that unequivocally declared Nnamdi Kanu's detention unlawful. One particular order, issued by the Federal High Court in Umuahia during the year 2022, had emphatically proclaimed Kanu's detention as unjust and illegal, yet the DSS remained unyielding in their non-compliance. This flagrant disregard for the judicial system was a stark reminder of the institution's most infamous act of disobedience.

With utmost urgency, Ejimakor placed the responsibility to halt this serial illegality squarely upon the shoulders of President Tinubu. Addressing him on Twitter with the handle @officialABAT, the Special Counsel underscored the critical role that Tinubu could play in curbing the DSS's transgressions and restoring the faith of the Nigerian people in the sanctity of court orders.

The backdrop of this appeal was the recent controversy surrounding the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. Having been granted bail by the Lagos Federal High Court, Emefiele faced a serious two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms. Despite the court's ruling, the DSS refused to abide by the order and withheld the former Governor from enjoying the freedom he was entitled to, further exacerbating the concerns over the agency's disregard for the law.

As the nation awaited President Tinubu's response to this fervent appeal, the weight of the matter rested on his actions. The eyes of the Nigerian populace turned towards the political leader, waiting to witness how he would address the pressing issue and stand up for the principles of justice and accountability that lay at the heart of a functioning democracy. The future of the rule of law and respect for court orders hinged on this critical juncture, and the nation held its breath in anticipation of the resolution that lay ahead.
