APC Vice Chairman, Lukman, steps down amidst accusations of attempting to enforce Ganduje as Adamu's successor

In a momentous turn of events that has sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape, the National Vice Chairman (North West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, has tendered his resignation from the esteemed position. The decision came as a profound protest against the prevailing speculations that the former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, might ascend to the cherished seat of the APC's National Chairman.

Crafted with deep sincerity and conviction, Lukman's resignation was transmitted through a poignant letter, dated July 26, addressed to none other than the APC National Working Committee (NWC), which was, at that time, under the stewardship of the acting National Chairman, Abubakar Kyari.

In the heart-rendering letter, Lukman expounded that the current atmosphere within the APC had veered dramatically away from the noble vision envisioned by the party's founding fathers. Gripped by a sense of responsibility and commitment to the principles that had given birth to the party, he could not idly stand by and witness its deviation from its sacred path.

Fiercely adamant in his conviction, Lukman had earlier voiced his strong reservations regarding the notion of replacing the former National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, with Abdullahi Ganduje. In his earnest appraisal, he asserted that such a substitution would be nothing short of a political hara-kiri, endangering the very essence and future prospects of the APC.

The saga surrounding the potential ascension of Ganduje to the apex position within the party had drawn increasing attention and curiosity, with many political pundits offering diverse perspectives on the matter. However, for Lukman, this was more than a mere political chess game; it was a battle to safeguard the core principles that had animated the APC's inception.

With his departure, Lukman has left an indelible mark on the party, underscoring the complexities and disagreements that can arise in the realm of politics. His actions have ignited debates and introspection within the APC, forcing its members to confront the challenges posed by divergent visions and ambitions.

The void left by Lukman's resignation has opened up a new chapter in the party's history, replete with uncertainties and possibilities. As the APC grapples with its future course, it remains to be seen how the party will address the concerns raised by its erstwhile National Vice Chairman and reconcile the diverse interests of its members.

In these uncertain times, the APC finds itself at a critical crossroad, where the choices it makes will undoubtedly shape its trajectory for years to come. As the party contemplates its next move, it must summon the wisdom and foresight to navigate the stormy waters of politics while holding true to the principles that have guided its existence since inception. Only time will tell how this chapter unfolds and what legacy the APC will ultimately etch upon the annals of Nigerian political history.
