Thwarted Boko Haram Assault on Atiku's Residence: APC Affirms His Right to Complete Protection

In a bold stance, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come forward to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that he deserves complete protection under the law as a Nigerian citizen. This declaration was made by Mr. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, in an official statement released on Tuesday in Abuja. Morka's statement came in the aftermath of recent foiled attacks on Atiku's Yola residence and ABTI University, which were carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

While expressing the party's unwavering support for Atiku's safety, Morka simultaneously called on the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate an allegation put forth by the PDP. The PDP accused the APC of being behind the attacks on Atiku's properties. Morka, in response, described this accusation as a baseless and malicious campaign of defamation, urging the PDP, as an established party, to refrain from such unfounded assertions.

Morka pointed out the absurdity of the PDP's allegations, particularly considering the party's recent defeat in the Presidential Election. The APC spokesman highlighted that the PDP had previously levied groundless claims against the APC, such as attempts to manipulate the judiciary and influence the outcomes of election petitions. He expressed dismay at the PDP's continuous politicization of serious matters concerning security and national welfare for their own self-serving agenda.

Emphasizing the gravity of terrorist activities and the importance of addressing them through proper legal channels, Morka asserted that acts of terror or involvement in any terrorist plot were severe crimes under the law. He further emphasized that Atiku Abubakar, being a Nigerian citizen, deserved full protection from the law enforcement authorities.

While the APC called for a thorough investigation into the PDP's wild and baseless allegations, they also vowed to defend their legitimate and popular election mandate in court. Rather than getting embroiled in futile debates, the party would continue to focus on President Bola Tinubu's strategic program of social and economic development. This program was meticulously designed to uplift the living conditions of Nigerians and gain their trust and support.

In conclusion, the APC, through Mr. Felix Morka's statement, conveyed a firm message of support for Atiku Abubakar's safety and the need for objective investigations into the PDP's accusations. The party denounced the PDP's habit of resorting to falsehoods and malicious claims and reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being of the Nigerian populace through the implementation of comprehensive development initiatives.
